Drawing Process: Songstress Yuna by ukalayla Drawing Process: Songstress Yuna by ukalayla
Hey DA! I have made a short layout/process on how I digital paint characters. This is Yuna from final fantasy X-2! It's not the best tutorial, but I hope this will be a little help to those who are new to digital painting or just looking for references/guide. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know! I'll be happy to answer any lingering questions! ^^

Used Paint tool SAI to paint and photoshop CS5 for effects.

Here is the link to the finished piece:

A very interesting technique, do you draw some sort of sketch under before adding the color? It seems to me you add the shading in layers of "color blobs" like first a main color, then a darker shade, then a lighter shade on top? I assume you also use a hard beush initially, then smoothen all the shading out with a soft airbrush?

What opacity do you paint in and what would you recommend when wanting to paint in a style like this?

Sorry for all the questions, itīs just Iīve never seen this sort of technique before with building up the face/body with small/large brushstrokes, so I am very curious

There is a trial version on the adobe site, but if you REALLY want the full version you can get it at the pirate bay site and download Photoshop CS5 for free. :)

I love how the fabric actually looks real, like it could actualy be made and worn by someone. The texture is perfect and the draping is gorgeous.

Thank you! The fabric took me a long time to paint since it has a lot of folds and details. It was fun at first, but it got really tedious at the end. ^^'
